  • DWMC Monthly Meeting with presentation by AWARE on Sex Trafficking.
Where: Cravings; 76 Shenango Ave, Sharon, PA.
What: Our regular monthly meeting and a presentation by Lizette Olsen, Director of AWARE about the sex trafficking epidemic in Mercer County.
Petitions will be available for people interested in becoming a precinct person. We will have people on hand to help you with the process. If you have question regarding becoming a precinct person contact Judy Hines 724-866-2220.

Two Events Mercer County January 2018

In light of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court's ruling regarding the current congressional districts, all will want to attend these events!

  • Mercer County Chapter of the League of Women Voters Legislative Interviews
Where: Community Library of the Shenango Valley; 11 N Sharpsville Ave, Sharon, PA
What: Topics will include voting modernization, redistricting reform, criminal justice reform, and environmental protection. In addition, questions will be accepted from the audience. 

Legislators expected to be in attendance are Representative Mark Longietti (7th District), Representative Tedd Nesbit (8th District) and Representative Parke Wentling (17th District).


  • 3rd District United 3rd District Congressional Candidates Forum
Where: My Brother’s Place backroom; 2058 Leesburg Grove City Rd, Mercer, PA
What:   Democratic candidates for the third congressional district will field questions from future constituents at a forum on Sunday, Jan. 28. To date, three Democratic candidates have declared their interest in running for the seat currently held by Republican Mike Kelly, a strong contrast to 2016, when Kelly ran unopposed.  View the Facebook Event page for more information.  For those unable to attend, the event will be live streamed via the Facebook Event page.

  • DWMC Monthly Meeting with Don Goldstein of Fair Districts PA 
Where: Cravings; 76 Shenango Ave, Sharon, PA
What: Monthly meeting and a special presentation by Don Goldstein of Fair Districts PA about gerrymandering.  All are welcome to join us at the Women’s March afterwards.

  • Indivisible Mercer County Women’s March 2018
Where: Columbia Theater Park in Sharon, PA
What: A rally will begin at noon in downtown Sharon, followed by a march through the city, past Rep. Mike Kelly’s office. Giselle Barreto Fetterman and Sharon Councilwoman Courtney Anderson Saylor will be speakers. A collection of funds and menstrual products will be collected for Do Good. Period. for women in need.   • Women’s March on Washington – Pittsburgh
Where: City County Building, Pittsburgh PA. 
What: We will gather at 11:30 a.m. at the City-County Building for poster making and more, then march to Market Square at noon. At Market Square we will continue our online training “Power to the Polls” with information about the voting process, our voting districts and to hear speakers from around the region. Our goal is to begin to train people to register themselves and others and to stand up for the vote! Visit the Facebook Event page for more information.

  • City Club of the Mahoning Valley’s Reflections On The 2017 Women’s March & Next Steps for Equality
Where: Suzie’s Dog & Drafts; 32 & 34 N Phelps St, Youngstown, OH.
What: Let's reflect and examine the current state of women in the United States and imagine what the future might look like. Panelists:
- Dr. Cryshanna Jackson Leftwich, Associate Professor, YSU Politics and International Relations
- Patricia Kelvin, professor, editor for Jewish Journal Monthly Magazine (and former Jeopardy! contestant)
The event is free and open to the public. Convene for hot dogs and beer at 6:30 p.m. Forum begins at 7 p.m.

    An important part of our election and political system are Precinct Chairs. They are the voices of our candidates, the ones that GOTV at the local neighborhood level, the ones that can hold County Party officials accountable. They will be an important part of our March to the Polls in 2018. Being a Precinct Chair is something that any of us can do. Mark your calendar. Attend our Precinct Information Meeting this Thursday the 18th at Cravings in Sharon at 6 PM

    When: Tuesday January 16th from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.
    Where: Treesdale Community Center; 1 Treesdale Commons, Gibsonia, PA 15044.
    What:  Craig Grella, Digital Operations Director of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party, will discuss how to get our many small groups organized for effective, cohesive campaigns.     DWMC January meeting is Canceled due to inclement weather.

    The Fair Districts presentation will be rescheduled.   Stay safe out there if you must travel.
