DWMC Aug.2017

Dear Friends,
This is a busy time with lots of upcoming events. The DWMC's next parade will be the Transfer Harvest Home parade on Tuesday, August 22nd. Line up will be at 5:30 at the Pymatuning Police Station behind the Transfer Sheetz. Parade will start at 6:15.
From Kim Powell: "We are really getting outnumbered by Republicans at the parades and fairs. We have a great group of dedicated Dems, so let's make these last few parades awesome! I think we were all impressed with our judicial candidates at our last meeting. So let's work hard for them and get their names out there!"
The next DWMC meeting will be September 9 , 2017 at 10:00 am at Cravings,76 Shenango Street, Sharon. If you are a local candidate and wish to be placed on the agenda to speak at the September meeting please contact Judy Hines. 724-866-2220

Dear Friends,

UPDATE: Saturday's at the Mercer County Courthouse has been POSTPONED. More details will be forthcoming.

The Youngstown event is still on.

Sunday, August 20 - Youngstown
3-4:30
UU Church
1105 Elm Street, Youngstown
From the host, Progress Mahoning Valley: "Join us in a vigil as part of a day of solidarity in the Mahoning Valley. Stand against white nationalism and the terrorism we saw in Charlottesville this past weekend carried out by groups like the neo Nazis and the KKK. We have seen the heightened rhetoric and scapegoating grow around the country. This calls for a strong united response in the Mahoning Valley. The vigil will bring us together in a community conversation about this issue. We will also discuss next steps for preparedness to keep our communities targeted by these groups safe and to promote racial justice and unity in the common causes we have together."

In solidarity,

Sheila Nowinski

Saturday Rally Cancelled

DWMC Action members:
The commissioners are giving us a hard time and are forbidding us a permit for Saturday. It is a public square and it is my understanding that the public is permitted to gather in public squares… in fact, that is their express purpose! However, Lisa, as a former police officer, has advised me that allow more time for the state police and local police to prepare may be a good idea. Therefore, the assembly is postponed. It pains me to say this, as already nearly a week has passed since the horrific events in Charlottesville and we have had no public gathering in Mercer County to commemorate the victims and discuss how we are going to move forward from here. The Friday (tomorrow) afternoon meeting at Cravings stands for 5 PM. We can at least gather and talk informally. We are going to push the commissioners to issue us a permit for Saturday the 26th, but please stay tuned until we can confirm a date.

Meet the Candidates running for PA Judicial Positions in November 2017

The DWMC Candidates Kickoff Meeting will be Saturday, August 12 at 10 am at Cravings, 76 Shenango Ave., Sharon, PA 16146

We are honored to welcome Judge Ellen Ceislercandidate for PA Commonwealth Court, and Judge Debbie Kunselman, candidate for PA Superior Court.

I cannot stress how important this election is in Pennsylvania.  We need to support candidates that will fight to protect our civil rights and the environment.

Come and meet these amazing accomplished women who need us to get out the vote in November.

See you there!
