Here we all are at Villa Maria, we have 17 people from our DWMC attending. There are several Amish gentlemen that have just arrived and are speaking with Carrie Hahn. The dinning room is filling up the program will begin soon.
Sister Mary Cunningham is speaking and giving us a little background and History. And photo meditatation on the gift of creation. The Sisters of Humility of Mary have lived on this land since 1864 for over 150 years our land has sustained our well being, drilling for gas/oil violates the pastoral nature of our home and property.
Carrie Hahn was the speaker at our April DWMC meeting, she is speaking now about the various stages of Fracking. We are in stage 2 and we have to address the problems facing us. There will be 40 well pads in Lawerence County. She is showing maps of the wells and pipelines and ports that are approved for exporting this gas. This is not gas for energy independence. Old wells must be capped before Fracking. These old wells can become dangerous and will vent toxic chemicals one house actually blew up near McKean. Land owners need to notify the DEP if they have an abandon well on their property. Act 13 Courts threw out part of this act.
Townships can be sued by individuals.
