Cancelled

Saturday Rally Cancelled

DWMC Action members:
The commissioners are giving us a hard time and are forbidding us a permit for Saturday. It is a public square and it is my understanding that the public is permitted to gather in public squares… in fact, that is their express purpose! However, Lisa, as a former police officer, has advised me that allow more time for the state police and local police to prepare may be a good idea. Therefore, the assembly is postponed. It pains me to say this, as already nearly a week has passed since the horrific events in Charlottesville and we have had no public gathering in Mercer County to commemorate the victims and discuss how we are going to move forward from here. The Friday (tomorrow) afternoon meeting at Cravings stands for 5 PM. We can at least gather and talk informally. We are going to push the commissioners to issue us a permit for Saturday the 26th, but please stay tuned until we can confirm a date.

Yesterday DWMC

Thank you to Robin, Pat, Lou, Chuck, & Donna for making the trip to Toomey's Erie office today. Thank you to Bruce Hazen, Kimberly Donovan, Tom Macchia, and Brian for composing letters that we delivered. We were joined by four Erie-based activists with Keystone Progress. We put in a request for a meeting with Toomey and/or his "healthcare" person. I have attached one of Donna's photos from outside the office. We made the local news in Erie: http://www.yourerie.com/news/local-news/protestors-speak-out-against-new-healthcare-plans/730242682.
I sent a press release, this photo and one of the delivered letters to 3 reporters at the Herald.
